Editorial standards

How we research, label and correct guides.

This policy explains the source hierarchy, authorship, update labels and correction process used by Colleen Hoover Guides.

Independence and scope

Colleen Hoover Guides is an independent, unofficial editorial publication. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by Colleen Hoover, her publishers, representatives, film studios, streaming services or cast members.

We publish original summaries, reading-order information, ending explanations, character guides and adaptation coverage. We do not present interpretation as an official explanation and do not reproduce chapters, extended dialogue or other substitute copies of copyrighted works.

Authorship

“Colleen Hoover Guides Editorial” is an organizational byline for the team responsible for researching, drafting and maintaining the site. It distinguishes site authorship from the author of the books. Substantive pages display the editorial byline and visible update information.

Research, drafting and quality-control tools may assist the workflow, but automated output is not treated as a source. Claims should be supported and checked according to the standards below.

Source hierarchy

  1. Primary and official sources: official author, publisher, studio, distributor, library catalog and rights-holder pages.
  2. Reliable secondary sources: established reporting, interviews and reputable reference or study-guide publications used for independent cross-checking.
  3. The work itself: a lawfully obtained edition used when detailed plot sequencing or wording depends on the primary text.

Official sources are preferred for publication data, series order, ISBNs, page counts, release dates and adaptation status. Page counts and identifiers are labeled by edition when they can vary. Time-sensitive claims should state a region, source and review date where relevant.

Verification and labeling

  • Book facts and screen-adaptation facts are kept separate.
  • Spoilers are labeled before major plot or ending details.
  • Analysis and interpretation are presented as editorial judgment, not confirmed authorial intent.
  • Unconfirmed release, casting or availability claims are not presented as settled facts.
  • Images and media require a documented rights basis; availability online is not treated as permission.

Page-specific citations, source lists, photo credits or source-review notes are included where applicable. A source-review date records when supporting references were checked; a page-updated date records a meaningful page change and does not by itself mean every cited claim was newly re-verified.

Corrections

Readers can submit a correction through our public correction form. Include the page URL, disputed claim, proposed change and supporting source. For private editorial or rights-related correspondence, email colleenhooverguides@outlook.com.

We assess the evidence, update confirmed errors and record the outcome publicly when practical. Material factual corrections update the visible page date or source-review note. Minor spelling, formatting or broken-link fixes may be corrected without a separate notice.

Commercial relationships

Editorial conclusions are not changed in exchange for payment, access or promotional consideration. If affiliate links, sponsorships or supplied review materials are introduced, they must be disclosed clearly on the relevant page. No such relationship should be inferred solely from a link to an official retailer, publisher or studio.
