
Slammed is the first book in Colleen Hoover’s three-book Slammed series. It follows eighteen-year-old Layken Cohen after a family move brings her close to neighbor Will Cooper—then reveals a boundary that makes their immediate connection impossible.
Before you read
The novel includes bereavement, terminal illness, a student-teacher power imbalance between adult characters, forced kissing and family caregiving. The official author catalog places the series in its Young Adult 14+ category.
Slammed series reading order
- Slammed (2012) — Layken’s account of meeting Will and surviving a year reshaped by love and grief.
- Point of Retreat (2012) — the direct sequel, told from Will’s perspective.
- This Girl (2013) — Will revisits the beginning of the relationship after the couple are married.
Read the trilogy in this order. Point of Retreat continues the first book’s ending, and This Girl assumes knowledge of both earlier books.
